Google October 2023 Algorithm Updates: What You Need to Know

It’s been a busy year in terms of SEO, particularly considering the various algorithm updates from Google. You would be forgiven if you thought the big changes were just behind us. We literally experienced high volatility only two months ago in the August Core Update, and now we have two more impactful updates from Google this month:

While the Spam Update focuses efforts on reducing visible spam in organic search results, the Core Update may have rocked websites with usually-solid performance — or even impacted them further than they were in August.

Traffic volume and rankings are the two areas where most businesses are reporting a change, both in terms of increases and decreases. If you noticed a drop—or a boost—in either of these areas this month, then it’s likely due to the Core and/or Spam Update from Google.
